Questions
The things everyone
asks about an
AI answering service.
Usually in this order. If yours isn't here, call the demo line and ask it — or ask us on the call.
Does it actually sound like a person?
Call it and decide for yourself — 210-794-7310. That's the honest answer, and it's the only one worth anything.
It pauses. It says mm-hm. It handles someone changing their mind halfway through a sentence. Most callers never ask. Some do, and it tells them straight.
What happens when it doesn't know something?
It says it doesn't know, and gets you. It does not guess at your prices, invent a policy, or promise something you'd have to walk back later.
Depending on what you want, it either warm-transfers to your cell with context, takes a callback and texts you immediately, or books a time for you to talk. You decide which, before it ever goes live.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep the number that's on your trucks, your cards and your Google listing. We forward your existing line to the receptionist. Nothing about how customers reach you changes.
How long until it's answering my phone?
About a week from our first conversation, and most of that week is you testing it. We build in a couple of days, then you call it as a customer until you trust it. It goes live when you say so — not on a schedule.
Can it really book into my calendar?
Yes — it reads your actual availability, offers real open times, and writes the appointment in with the customer's name, number and what they need. No double-bookings, and nobody has to call anyone back to confirm.
Does it work with my booking software?
Today it writes into Google Calendar, Square Appointments, Calendly and Cal.com. If you're on one of those there's nothing for you to set up beyond letting us connect it.
If you're on something else, tell us what it is on the call. Some systems have an open door and some don't, and we'd rather tell you which yours is before you pay us than after.
What about Spanish-speaking callers?
It hears which language someone opens in and answers in that language — no menu, no "para español." It'll switch mid-call if the caller does.
In this market that isn't a bonus feature. For a lot of shops it's half the phone, and it's the half most competitors are quietly losing.
Will it replace my front desk person?
That's not what it's for, and we'll say so on the call. It takes the calls nobody was getting to — the ones during a rush, after close, on a Sunday, while your person is already on the other line.
Shops that have someone at the desk usually keep them. They just stop losing the overflow.
What if a customer asks for a human?
It hands them over without an argument. No loop, no "let me help you with that first." If someone wants you, they get you — either a live transfer or an immediate callback, whichever you set up.
Does it recognize someone who has called before?
Yes. It knows the number, pulls up who they are and what they called about last time, and sends them to the person they normally deal with instead of starting from nothing.
That's the part callers actually notice. Nobody likes explaining the same thing twice to the same business.
What does it cost?
Plans start at $89 a month and go up by how much phone you actually have — the sizes and what each one covers are on the pricing page.
A property portfolio is priced differently: a one-time build fee and then a flat monthly rate on your door count, no minutes involved. That ladder is on the same page.
There's no contract. If you're between two sizes, start lower; a month of real calls settles it better than guessing.
Who hears my calls?
Calls are recorded and transcribed so you have a record and so we can improve your receptionist. That data is yours, it isn't sold, and it isn't used to train anything outside your own setup. Details are in the privacy policy.
If you're in a regulated field, tell us on the call and we'll walk through exactly how it's handled.
What if I want to change something later?
You text us. New service, new price, new hours, someone new to transfer to — we change it. It isn't a support ticket and it isn't billed as a change order.
On top of that we sit down with you every two weeks and go through the real calls together.
What if I hate it?
You never go live until you've heard it and told us you're happy — that's the whole point of the test week. And there's no contract, so if it isn't earning its keep, you stop.
Still got one?
Ask the receptionist yourself, or book half an hour and ask us.
