AI answering service · Salons & barbershops
An answering service
for salons and
barbershops.
A receptionist for salons, barbershops and nail studios. She books by stylist, handles the change of plan, and fills the chair a no-show just emptied, while your hands are in somebody's hair.
What she does between clients.
Books by stylist
Not just a slot. The right chair, the right person, the right length of service, into the calendar you already use.
Changes and cancels
Moves it, and offers the times that are actually open rather than asking the client to call back.
Fills a no-show
A gap at two o'clock is money on the floor. She works the callback list instead of you noticing at four.
Prices you set
Cuts, colour, extensions, whatever you've told her. Anything she wasn't given becomes a consult, not a guess.
The call that comes in on Saturday at nine.
Salon calls arrive when the shop is busiest, which is exactly when nobody can reach a phone. The client who can't get through books somewhere else that afternoon.
She answers every one of them on the second ring, and you find out by text when you've got a hand free.
The honest comparison
Voicemail, a call center, or this.
| Voicemail | Call center | OnCallAI Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Somebody answers | No | Usually, after a hold | Second ring, every time |
| Books by stylist | — | No | Yes, to the right chair |
| Knows your prices | — | No | Only what you told her |
| Handles a reschedule | No | Takes a message | Moves it in the calendar |
| Fills a cancellation | No | No | Offers the open slot to the next caller |
| Cost | Free, and it shows | Per minute, per call, or both | From $89 a month |
We've written the same comparison against Smith.ai Goodcall and RingCentral using their published prices.
The chair a no-show emptied is the whole argument.
A cancellation at ten in the morning is a gap somebody would happily have taken, and the only reason it stays empty is that nobody was free to work the phone in the twenty minutes when it mattered.
She's on that immediately, because she's never with a client. One filled gap a week at a hundred and fifty dollars is six hundred a month, which is more than the plan most salons are on.
The other half is the booking that happens at nine on a Sunday, when somebody decides they need a colour before a wedding. That call goes to whoever picks up, and on a Sunday night that is nobody.

Questions we get from salons.
How much does an answering service for a salon cost?
From $89 a month for about 40 calls, up to $850 for about 800. Most salons land between $175 and $300.
There's no contract and no per-call charge, so a busy month doesn't produce a surprise invoice.
Can it book to a specific stylist?
Yes. It knows who does what, who's in on which days, and who a returning client normally sees, and books into that person's column rather than a general slot.
If a client asks for somebody who's fully booked, it offers that stylist's next opening before it offers anyone else.
Will it quote prices?
Only the ones you give us. A cut, a beard trim, a standard colour, whatever you're comfortable putting a number on.
Anything that depends on seeing the hair — a correction, extensions, a big colour change — becomes a consultation instead of a number it made up.
Does it fill cancellations?
Yes. When a slot opens it can offer it to the next person who calls about that service, which is the single easiest money in a salon.
It's on the phone the moment the gap appears, which is the part a busy front desk can't do.
Does it work with my booking software?
It books into Google Calendar, Square Appointments, Calendly and Cal.com today.
Vagaro has an API but access is granted per merchant account, takes about five business days and costs $10 a month on your side. GlossGenius has no public API at all, so we'd run a calendar alongside it. We'll tell you exactly which case you're in before you pay us.
Does it answer in Spanish?
Yes, on the same number, with no menu and no transfer. It hears which language the caller opens in and answers in that one.
In San Antonio that's often half the phone.
In English and Spanish, on the same number.
No menu, nothing to press. She hears which language the caller is speaking and answers in it, then books the appointment the same way either way.
The next call is already on its way.
Half an hour is enough to know whether she'd work for you.
